Community Learning Center

What is a Community Learning Center?

The Lincoln Public Schools Community Learning Centers (CLC≠s) are school based centers that provide safe, supervised, and cost effective childcare, as well as special interest enrichment clubs, programs, and support services for children and their families. Each of the 12 elementary schools and 3 middle school CLC≠s in the Lincoln Public School system look differently, based upon the needs of the community it serves (children, families, schools, neighborhood businesses, and patrons of the district living in that neighborhood).

Each CLC has a School Neighborhood Advisory Council (SNAC) comprised of representatives from the school, neighborhood, and business community that make recommendations to the CLC. The community teams plan, implement or expand projects that benefit the educational, health, culture, and recreational needs of the surrounding neighborhood. The main goals of a CLC are to: 1) Strengthen student learning and development, 2) Strengthen and support families, and 3) Support healthier neighborhoods.
